The Service des Telecommunications Francaises (French Telecommunications Service) could be heard on the shortwaves during the 1970's transmitting a repeating voice mirror (usually on SSB) so that the receiving station could properly tune them in prior to handling actual radiotelephone traffic. They had stations in many of the French possessions around the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, the Pacific, and even St. Pierre and Miquelon. The voice mirrors were mostly in French and sounded quite similar except for the location given at the beginning. Here are recordings of some of these stations as received in southern Ontario, Canada in the early 1970's. Also included are replies (QSL's) received from some of their stations confirming this reception.
